was addicted by chapter 3 !! Found it slightly difficult to get into at the beginning, but was totally absorbed by end chapter 3. An amazing read - probably best book read in years. Just bought the girl who played with fire ..............

The Millennium Series Is the best mystery series I have ever read. Salander is my hero,I had some similar issues as a youth.

It is quite tragic to have lost a great and creative writer. I watched his Swedish movie of the Girl with the Dragon Tatoo last night and I was more than impressed. I could just imagine how fantastic the book is. BUt now I have decided to read and purchase his books for Christmas. Start digging in.

Liza Jane, I am convinced this trilogy will become a classic, If it is not already. Being a New Zealander like most of my Countrymen I only speak English which is arrogant but probably excusable as our nearest neighbour , Australia is 2000km away and to the east I suppose it would be Chile maybe 10000km. So we have little use of any other language.
All leading up to the fact that it would not be much use seeing the film as it would make little sense to me in Swedish, Kia Ora

I just finished reading Girl with the Dragon Tatoo, having selected the book from the bookstore based on the title and writeup on the cover, never having heard of Stieg Larsson or of the Millennium Series. I just finished the book last night, having read it straight through, and went immediately to Amazon this AM to purchase Stieg's 2nd book, filled with enthusiasm and anticipation that Lisbeth Salander and cohort(s) would continue for many books to come! Needless to say I was very very saddened to discover that Stieg Larsson had passed away and that there will be no more GREAT thrillers beyond his 3rd book of the trilogy. Knowing that I will no longer be able to follow this great duo through many more "who done its" and "go get 'ems," I will read the 2nd and 3rd of Stieg's books with a heavy heart, knowing their sleuthing will come to a final end.

The trilogy however is not a "Who done it" The second and third books go in a different direction and they take good and evil to a new level. The trilogy is about Lisbeth Salander and I think once the story has been told there could be no follow on. A truly wonderful tale of how people in power abuse it and how there will always be good people who will not sit back and let that happen. The depth of the next two books is amazing...The film in sub titles, which was shown last night in my town was.......so well done, the actors were just right and mostly it followed the book, however, I fear the deeper real story did not come across. It is so sad that Stieg is not around to enjoy.

I have serious deprivation effects since I finished reading the Milennium Trilogy. I desperately want more!!! Alas.

Both my husband I are enthralled with the trilogy. I see some people talking about a movie? In Australia we have not heard of that but sincerely hope that arrive down under as we are such fans! So sad reading that Steig Larsson has died, hope he somehow realises how successful he is!!

The film was shown in Scotland last night with sub titles. It was very well done and the characters were excellent, but, I feel the essence of the book was somehow lost. The film did not follow the deeper story and I do wonder how the next film will bring in all the important characters that were lost in this first film. If you had not read the book, you would not realise there were other very important people who did not appear. I wonder how the next film is going to bring them back into the story. On thinking about the film deeply, it could almost be a stand alone story, and to the non reader it would seem there isn't much more to be told.. But the best has yet to come.

I have just finished book 3 in the series! Wow what a fantastic read and this is from someone who doesnt read much. I really hope that someone else picks up the torch with perhaps a similar background and breaths life back into Lisbeth Salander and Mikhal Blomvkist!
